A Sorry State

Seeds of hatred
Freely scattered
Forgetting that
A world is shattered
Grief and loss
Are cast aside
Why can’t we be
More dignified
We seem to live
In a sorry state
Of bitter, harsh
Uninhibited hate
Whatever trials
We must weather
We cannot seem
To stand together
Some blame religion
Colour and creed
Even sexuality
There is no need
We are the same
Every one of us
A sorry state is
What’s become of us
